Shilajit Purification

Natural elements and wild harvested flora from our ecosystem is a part of raw Shilajeet which is finally purified into the form of "Shudh Shilajeet Rasayana" (Purified Shilajeet liquid) as mentioned in the Ayurveda. Ayurveda says shudikaran of Silajit or Shilajeet should be purified in the form of paste out of raw material using two methods (vidhi) - "Agni" (fire) and "Surya" (sun). Therefore purification of raw Shilajeet is done by adopting these two methods which are called as "Agni-tapi" and "Surya-tapi" by the Ayurvedacharyas (Ayurvedic Scholars) since centuries. The raw material is contaminated with foreign particles such as soil, rock and even plant debris. As such it cannot be used without its thorough purification.

Purification of raw Shilajeet is a very difficult and technical process it should be done very carefully with the help of the experts for its best results. We prepare Shilajeet by using Surya Taapi Vidhi (Sun drying purification method for Shilajeet) only, which further makes it Pure and Organic. It requires complete patience and synergy as it is a long procedure and is adopted to make raw Shilajeet in to its purely refined and in consumable form. Our technical team of Micro-biologist and Ayurveda Experts takes extra care and precautions during the whole process of selecting raw material till getting it refined at the final stage. In other words, the process of purification of Shilajeet is very cumbersome, hectic and time consuming.

During purification process, raw Shilajeet rock is first washed and dissolved in cow’s milk to let the dust particles settle at bottom. Then the solution is filtered in a different stainless steel vessel with the help of double layered virgin muslin cloth and placed in bright Sun light till the light brown colored cream (Shilajeet cream) is formed on the upper surface and this cream is repeatedly collected from the vessel. The process of filtration is repeated again and again for collecting the Shilajeet cream till our experts are satisfied that they have extracted and collected the best from the raw shilajeet rock. This Shilajeet cream which is collected is then added in the decoction of Triphala (Triphala Kwath) for further purification (Shudikaran). This Sun drying process (Surya Taapi Vidhi) of Shilajeet solution is continued for months till the light brown cream totally disappears to form on the solution and the cream is repeatedly collected from the vessel. Now finally the collected Shilajeet cream is kept in Sun again for the evaporation of water content. This extensive sun drying purification process for developing the Pure Shilajeet is a well controlled method of exposure to the bright sun rays for approximate 90-day period in summers.

Sometimes this purification is an extended season long process and takes months for us to prepare the best and the purest Shilajeet which comes out, as a viscous semi-solid mass and we are able to develop the finest and ultimate grade of Shilajeet. Such manufacturers and traders who claim to collect Shilajeet from the right source are not even sure about the right source or the marked locations are, for collecting the purest Shilajeet exudates, as per ancient Ayurvedic texts. They are even further confusing customers by claiming to make Shilajeet from various methods via Agni (Fire), Surya (Sun) or just Water purifying – some of them are not sure what they are writing or how it is done. Beware of such commercially available Shilajeet and Ayurvedic products, extracts and powders from the people who do not understand the real meaning of Ayurveda and are not dedicated towards promoting this holistic science and above all Ayurvedic lifestyles.
